Britney Spears has launched an attack on US tabloid magazines who, she claims, have printed lies and untruths about her personal life.
The broadside was issued on the singer's website and addressed in the form of an open letter to the Us Weekly, Star and other "desperate magazines".
Both Us Weekly and Star have reported that Spears is three-months pregnant and that her marriage to Kevin Federline is on the rocks.
However, Spears' letter hits back at the journalists who work for, what she calls, the "false tabloid" market.
It reads: "Your employees are a reflection of your magazine. I'm really concerned about the people you hire to work at your companies.
"I'd like them to ask themselves the question 'What am I lying to myself about?' Is it that you are 50 pounds overweight? Is it that your children aren't making wise decisions? Or is it maybe that your husband or boyfriend is cheating on you?
"Until you face what is going on in your life, I guess you'll remain a false tabloid."
However, both magazines were quick to issue statements in retaliation.
In the Us Weekly's case, this read: "Unlike other magazines that pay for access to Britney, the writers at Us Weekly have high journalistic standards and do their own researching and reporting for all stories.
"Our coverage of Britney has proven to be accurate."
Spears' letter is her latest outburst against the media.
Earlier in the month she announced that she was going to keep a lid on her personal life after an indepth interview with Allure magazine.
The magazine had described Spears as "implausibly naïve" and "hardly more grown-up than many preteens".
