MICHAEL JACKSON has claimed his recent legal troubles are the result of a conspiracy against him.
Speaking on an internet radio show hosted by the Rev Jesse Jackson over the weekend (March 26), the singer said he was the latest in the line of “black luminaries†to have been unfairly accused of crimes, although he would not discuss details further citing a strict gagging order imposed by his current court case.
“I would love your prayers and your goodwill, and please be patient and be with me and believe in me because I am completely, completely innocent,†Jackson said on the show. “But please know a lot of conspiracy is going on as we speak."
Additionally, Jackson insisted his expensive lifestyle has not nearly bankrupted and suggested rumours to that effect were part of the conspiracy’s tactics to “embarrass†him, MTV News reports. He did admit however there is a battle going on for the music catalogue he owns which includes many of The Beatles songs.
"There's a big fight going on right now, as we speak, about that," he said. "I can't comment on it, but there's a lot of conspiracy out there."
Jackson also explained that a shower fall was the cause of the “intense back pain†which forced him to arrive late for court in his pyjamas on March 10 after he visited a hospital.
"I was coming out of the shower, and I fell and all my body weight — I'm pretty fragile — all my body weight fell against my rib cage," he said. "And I bruised my lung very badly." The singer added the injury has caused him to cough up blood.
