Miami-Fl- May 2005-South Florida’s classically trained, violin stroking duo "Black Violin" has once again claimed their third win at New York City’s legendary Showtime at the Apollo. "Black Violin" performed a melody of songs by Michael Jackson, Usher and Biggie Smalls and clinched the 2005 Apollo Legend title. South Florida natives Wil-B and Kev Marcus make up this dynamic duo and are leveling the playing field for South Florida as it relates to the music industry.
The Apollo has maintained its position as the nation’s most popular arena for arising stars where thousands of emerging and established black and Latino talents have launched their careers. Stars and legends include such names as Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo to name a few, have all performed at The Apollo. The "Black Violin" has now become a part of this historic landmark, source of pride and symbol of the brilliance of American artistic achievements.
"Black Violin" has also caught the eyes and ears of the A-list heavyweights in the entertainment industry. I saw them on Showtime at the Apollo and they were by far one of the best artist I've seen in a long time! Being from South Florida (where they are based) I'm hoping I can catch them live sometime! If anyone knows when they will be in concert down here, please post it online!

The Black Violins are putting on a concert in Tampa, Florida tomorrow night (Tuesday April 25th), they are playing 1/2 the concert and our son's Bloomingdale High School orchestra plays 1/2. It's at the Tampa Theatre on Franklin Street in downtown Tampa, tickets can be purchased through TicketMaster.
They are graciously helping the high school fundraiser to send whole orchestra to Beijing, China for pre-Olympic festivities end of June 2008. I am pretty sure they will have CD's available for purchase st the concert, too (the Black Violins). So if anybody in the Tampa Bay area, come and check it out! Tickets are $25 apiece
There have also been spots aired on 3 local TV stations recently about this (Fox 13, Channel 10 News and Channel 9 Tampa Bay)
