James Blunt rules UK charts

Around a year after signing a deal with Atlantic records, singer/songwriter James Blunt has delivered on his potential - landing at No.1 on both the UK album and singles chart tonight.

'You're Beautiful', taken from his number one album 'Back To Bedlam', tops the singles chart this week ahead of 2Pac's 'Ghetto Gospel' ft. Elton John, which drops to two after four weeks.

Mariah Carey's 'We Belong Together' is at three, Elton John's 'Electricity' is at four and Charlotte Church's 'Crazy Chick' slips one to number five. Inaya Day's 'Nasty Girl' is the only other top ten new entry this week, at nine.

Elsewhere on this week's top 40, Deep Dish's 'Say Hello' is new at 14, the Editors land a strong new entry at 18 with 'Blood', the Raveonettes' 'Love In A Trashcan' is new at 26, REM's 'Wanderlust' bows at 27, Rooster's 'Deep and Meaningless' is at 29, the Paddingtons' '50 To A Pound' debuts at 32 and Lemon Jelly's 'Make Things Right' opens one place back at 33.

With James Blunt holding the top spot for the second week, Coldplay are left at number two with 'X&Y'. Faithless' 'Forever Faithless' continues at three, the Kaiser Chiefs' 'Unemployment' is at four and Charlotte Church's 'Tissues and Issues', her first pop album, lands at five.
