When you are a celebrity that has been around in the music scene for almost an entire decade and is now a house hold name, you can definitely have your cake and eat it, too.
Like many artists, getting a successful music career is just getting your foot in the door for many other opportunities, one of which being embarking into the world of fashion.
Although her fashion line, L.A.M.B. (“Love, Angel, Music, Babyâ€) has experienced a great amount of success (with the likes of the Hilton sisters, Pamela Anderson, Alicia Keys and Halle Barry – to name just a few – beginning to wear her work), Stefani is ready to continue into the fashion industry.
For the 2006 New York fashion week, Stefani's line is slotted to fill the finale for the week, on September 16th. Last year's finale was Jennifer Lopez and her (very contraversial) Sweetface collection.
The L.A.M.B line is set to be priced like other contemporary designer collections with a price range anywhere between $100-$300.
When asked about why many musicians have been slowly gravitating towards their own clothing lines, Stefani told the Associated Press:
"Music and fashion, it all comes from the same place of creativity. I don't see why any musician who has style or pays attention to style couldn't do it [fashion]. It's an extension of my personality. I can't explain why I like it, it's just always been that way for me -- like pizza."
Other musicians that have their own designer line (or will be planning on debuting their own clothing line soon) include Beyonce Knowles (of Destiny's Child), Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, and Diddy.
Diddy (formerly known as Puff Daddy, among many names) won a Council of Fashion Designers of America award just last year after having his line, Sean John (named after his child), out for only six years.
Our Thoughts
Although it almost seems cliché for a celebrity to start their own fashion line, if they have the opportunity, then it is worth it.
